The STEPHENS extended family immigrated from Cornwall, England as a "clan", about 50 of them at once which gave them the local (Dodgeville, Wisconsin) nickname of the "Stephens colony".

  1. I just found you blog. I am also researching the name Stephens. My husbands great great grandfather was Charles Stephens and his wife Hanna Stephens.
    They emigrated from England c. 1850 with the son Robert (and other children) The next time I found theme was in KY in 1860 and then in Pittsburgh in 1870. I have just discovered this information and believe they (Charles and Hannah) are buried in Pittsburgh PA. I will be searching this line for a while.

  2. Thank you for the comment, Claudia. I'm not actively researching this line at the moment; although I do have quite a bit of information on them. It doesn't appear that our Stephens are related to yours, though. Best of luck in your research:)
